The CTG Apprenticeship Program is approved and registered with the United States Department of Labor. We provide continuous learning through coursework and hands-on shop floor experience to learn the skilled trade of CNC Machining or Mold Making. Upon completion of the 4-year program, the Department of Labor issues the highly respected and coveted Journeyman’s Certification. Once you receive a Journeyman’s Certificate CTG offers excellent career growth opportunities.

Description

Commercial Tool Group CTG, located in Comstock Park, Michigan, is comprised of four legal entities: Commercial Tool & Die, CG Automation & Fixture, CG Plastics, and Marnie's Transport, LLC. Commercial Tool & Die is a company specializing as a leading manufacturer of plastic injection and die cast molds and through our sister companies, fixtures, special machinery, and custom molding, we provide quality service to the automotive, appliance, hardware and toy producing industries. We are a third-generation, family-owned organization with a rich history spanning nearly 70 years. Our on-going success hinges on continued customer and employee satisfaction. The Group is strongly committed to investing in our roughly 300 employees, equipment, and processes to help promote continuous improvement, innovation, and opportunities in a technology-driven environment.


We are looking to add a Controller to join our team and provide the sound and expert-level analysis, reporting, and advisement to help guide us into the future for Commercial Tool Group. The Controller will assist the CFO in preparing and managing the financial activities of CTG in the accounting and finance areas.


General Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end close process, including inventory calculations, preparation of journal entries, analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, analysis of job cost gross margins, and preparation of preliminary financial statements for review by the CFO.
  • Manage the customer invoicing process, including PO terms review, new tool and repair tool invoice preparation, customer specific invoice documentation and electronic issuance to customers.
  • Track and update customer invoicing schedule for new tools for progress billings.
  • Prepare monthly reports, including management review analysis, commission payment schedules, new tool invoicing schedule, repair tool invoicing analysis, and intercompany sales/receivables analysis.
  • Manage daily cash receipts and deposits, daily bank transactions and reports, and monthly bank reconciliations. Prepares daily bank reconciliation/summary to determine intercompany borrowing or paydown requirements.
  • Calculate and input weekly new employee fully-burdened labor rates and annual labor rates for job costing purposes.
  • Prepare and review quarterly prepaid and accrual schedules for recurring journal entries, vacation payments, bonus payments, etc.
  • Prepare quarterly asset input worksheets and enter into the ERP system.
  • Prepare and perform analysis of schedules for annual audit, quarterly financial and tax information requests, state and IRS audit requests.
  • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, and budgeting duties.
  • Assist the CFO with preparation of annual audit schedules, state, and IRS audit requests.
  • Prepare annual property tax returns and detailed burden analyses.

Qualifications

  • Well organized, detail and process oriented

  • Excellent communication and positive interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with strong time management skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting/Finance, required.
  • 5+ years of experience in management level or senior level accounting position.
  • Personal computer skills including the use of MS Office Word, Excel, and ERP software
  • Experience in cost accounting in a job shop environment, preferred.
  • Experience with developing burden/machine rates, desirable.
