The CTG Apprenticeship Program is approved and registered with the United States Department of Labor. We provide continuous learning through coursework and hands-on shop floor experience to learn the skilled trade of CNC Machining or Mold Making. Upon completion of the 4-year program, the Department of Labor issues the highly respected and coveted Journeyman’s Certification. Once you receive a Journeyman’s Certificate CTG offers excellent career growth opportunities.

Commercial Tool & Die CTD, located in Comstock Park, MI is looking for Global Tooling Cost Estimator to join our team!!

CTD, along with its sister companies, CG Plastics and CG Automation & Fixture, make up Commercial Tool Group CTG. CTG is a third-generation, family owned and operated organization, with CTD's inception in 1953. At CTD, we offer growth opportunities, great benefits and a climate-controlled facility. Our state of the art facility boasts the latest machining technology in the area and our workforce can design and build the impossible. This position is ideal for a highly motivated team-player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is responsible for supporting the Global Tooling Manager by developing cost estimates to source plastic injection molds through a Best Cost Country BCC and to assist with program management.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Send all RFQ's out for tools targeted for BCC tool build
  • Compile all quotes from BCC
  • Write all quotes for BCC tools.
  • Track all RFQ's to BCC for the timing for them to return a quote to the Global Tooling Manager.
  • Track number of quotes/RFQ's sent to BCC
  • Follow all tools being build in BCC
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Tooling Manager.
  • Travel to BCC when needed.
  • Work with the BCC shops to get any special items needed for the tool build
  • Stay abreast of customer requirements and assure customer standards are met and adhered to effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Prior cost estimating experience is preferred.
  • Tooling Engineer experience is ideal
  • Global experience a plus
  • Journeyman Mold Maker card is preferred.
  • Technical background required
  • 3-5 years of experience in BCC tool building, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of plastic injection tool building, plastic injection tool design, and processing injection tools
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision
  • Detail oriented
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
