The CTG Apprenticeship Program is approved and registered with the United States Department of Labor. We provide continuous learning through coursework and hands-on shop floor experience to learn the skilled trade of CNC Machining or Mold Making. Upon completion of the 4-year program, the Department of Labor issues the highly respected and coveted Journeyman’s Certification. Once you receive a Journeyman’s Certificate CTG offers excellent career growth opportunities.

Job Description
As a 3rd Shift Utility Operator, you will play a key role in the support and operations of our manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with die setting/mold changes, cleaning, material handling, and ensuring efficient workflow. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while upholding our commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately utilize our ERP system Epicor.
  • Utilize the central material feed system.
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves, etc.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement.
  • Clean and load dry hoppers with material for the next day's usage.
  • Ensure containers are properly identified.
  • Count material inventory and reconcile inventory cycle discrepancies.
  • Complete all required process documentation
  • Perform quality inspections on finished products
  • Assist with machine and dryer setup, including loading dryers with the correct materials
  • Set up, adjust, and change molds and dies on injection molding machines
  • Install and align molds, ensuring proper fit, function, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve setup issues and mold malfunctions.
  • Work closely with machine operators and maintenance personnel to ensure efficient production
  • Perform routine mold inspections, cleanings, and maintenance
  • Follow production schedules and collaborate with supervisors to meet deadlines.
  • Participate in 5S activities to maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Perform assigned preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Understand and follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures
  • Support continuous improvement efforts across the facility
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production or quality issues
  • Ensure product quality, with the authority to stop production if necessary

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience setting mold in presses and material handling.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, machine operation, and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently when needed
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to operate a Hi Lo forklift and overhead crane
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certification in injection molding technology or mechanical maintenance preferred, but not required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Mold Setter or similar role in a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ year of experience as a Material Handler or similar role

Work Environment
This position is in a manufacturing environment, working with injection molding machines and related equipment. Personal protective equipment PPE is required, and safety is a top priority.
