The CTG Apprenticeship Program is approved and registered with the United States Department of Labor. We provide continuous learning through coursework and hands-on shop floor experience to learn the skilled trade of CNC Machining or Mold Making. Upon completion of the 4-year program, the Department of Labor issues the highly respected and coveted Journeyman’s Certification. Once you receive a Journeyman’s Certificate CTG offers excellent career growth opportunities.

Position Overview
CTG is seeking an experienced Automation Design Engineer to join our growing Engineering/Design Team. This role is ideal for a creative problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about designing equipment and automation that improve how products are made.
This position offers flexibility to work hybrid or fully remote.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop automated equipment, tooling, and mechanisms supporting CTG's commitment to innovative manufacturing solutions.
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings-Siemens NX experience preferred.
- Conduct engineering analysis to ensure design reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management.
- Prepare and lead design reviews, contributing technical expertise and creative problem-solving.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers, reinforcing CTG's culture of growth, collaboration, and excellence.
- Support integration, testing, and continuous improvement of automated systems.
- Document work clearly and professionally to support internal processes and customer requirements.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, automation design, or machine design.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Design, or related field (preferred).
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD; Siemens NX strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, motion control, pneumatics, and general automation principles.
- Ability to mentor junior talent with patience, clarity, and technical expertise.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills aligned with CTG's collaborative culture.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-driven mindset with the ability to thrive in hybrid or remote work environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, or design-for-manufacturability.
- Familiarity with automation integration, sensors, actuators, or robotics.
- Working knowledge of FEA tools or basic engineering simulation.
